| − | In December 2009, after standards on Virgin West Coast trains were criticised following two strikes by cleaners, it was found that cleaning activity had been outsourced via main contractor Alstom to Carlisle. Further investigation showed that cleaners were paid UK National minimum wage levels of £5.80/hr. Commenting on the strike, RMT union leader Bob Crow said: |
