OTRS request number 2007021810000441
Hello Bastique,
I have a question regarding the legitimacy of the above referenced OTRS number. 1) Has Wikipedia confirmed the OTRS represents the wishes of Ms. Mulgrew? 2) Even if it does represent her wishes, the removed material is a) true and b) well sourced and c) the sources are widely available in the public domain. Therefore, there appears to be no issue of privacy. Moreover, the fact that she has a daughter appears on her official website. Can you please show the OTRS text and explain your position on why editors need to follows this request. Thanks. Tobit2 (talk) 14:52, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Question about Van Morrison
Hi Bastique. A question has arisen about the amount of personal information that is appropriate to put in the Van Morrison article. I understand, given Wikipedia guidance, and a request from the subject, that detailed information about VM's children with Michelle Rocca should not appear in the article. However, there is uncertainty about the appropriateness of mentioning Michelle Rocca. The relationship is well known and widely reported in reliable sources. The relationship is mentioned in the Michelle Rocca article. Given that this is widely known information, so much so that the Daily Mail can refer in a headline that Rocca's brother is Van Morrison's 'brother-in-law', it would appear to me that our VM article would be incomplete without a mention of her. I also understand that guidance on mentioning the children of famous people suggests not identifying them by name or age - however the fact of their existence, especially when mentioned in reliable sources, is something that is OK to mention. I have some possible wordings - "Van Morrison has two children by his long term partner the former Miss Ireland, Michelle Rocca." or, "WM has been linked with the former Miss Ireland, Michelle Rocca." What are your thoughts? Though I'm quite happy to continue this by email, I would prefer the conversation be on Wiki so there is a record of it to avoid future doubt. It might be that the best place would be the talkpage of the Van Morrison article. Regards SilkTork *YES! 07:59, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not certain what to say. Obviously, you should weigh how much press coverage has been given to the subject, versus how strong the privacy laws are in their country, I'm sorry to be vague or ambiguous, but this is not something on whcih I'm in a position to provide advice. --Bastique demandez 22:36, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- My understanding is that it was you who dealt with the request from VM to reduce the mention of his children by Rocca, and advised the main editor of the article of the situation. The main editor is quite firm in her understanding that no mention of children or of Rocca herself should be made, and she uses you as the authoritative source for this position. Some clarity on this would be helpful as I feel mention of Rocca would be useful to the article, while the other editor feels that such a mention is not allowed. Spotlight
Hi there.
I should probably have contacted you earlier, so apologies for not doing so; I'm trying hard to do things the correct way.
Re. spotlight - I note that you're the founder of the channel #wikipedia-spotlight. The project was dorment for some time; a couple of weeks ago, some users 're-launched' it. It's been going very well. I guess that I have become the 'main coordinator', sort of thing. As far as IRC stuff goes, KFP has been helpful, and granted me ops so I can change the topic and suchlike.
Really, I just wanted to make you aware of what we were up to. Let me know if there is anything else that I ought to be doing. Thanks for your time, Chzz ► 06:55, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Jack Blott
Thanks for the note on Jack Blott. If the lady you corresponded with or her cousin want to contact me on my talk page, I'd be glad to discuss. I would not have listed him as "John Leonard 'Jack' Blott" unless one of the sources identified him that way. I would not have simply inferred that someone named Jack was really a John. When I have a bit of free time, I'll see if I can go back to my sources on this. Cbl62 (talk) 18:52, 25 September 2009 (UTC)
- Here's one such source. Baseball-reference.com, which takes its information from the records of Major League Baseball, shows him as "John Leonard Blott." [2]
I would like to make an OTRS enquiry about an article and two editors
Hello, Bastique,
I did some edits on the talk page of this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Macedonia_(ancient_kingdom); but my additions are constantly deleted. While I recognized the reasons why they were deleted the first time, I fail to recognize any sane logic for the further deletions. Thus, I am addressing you to have a look at the page and handle the edits properly.
I did include sources in my additions, as well as, another POV which should contribute to the NPOV (inclusion of all POVs). Also, this is a talk page, and I can clearly see why they (users http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Cplakidas and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:GK1973) are doing this.
If you are not in charge of this, can you please redirect me to someone who is?
Thank you, MakedekaM MakedekaM (talk) 15:19, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Question regarding surveys
Hi Cary. Over at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Administrator/survey we are working on a survey to find out current thoughts and concerns about the role of administrators on enwiki. I'd like to do a proper tabulatable survey, and my memory seems to indicate that WMF has used www.surveymonkey.com in the past for conducting surveys and polls. Am I correct in this, and if so is it possible to gain access to the account in order to create such a survey? → ROUX ₪ 19:56, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Roux. I do not believe that the WMF surveymonkay account can be accessed except for by surveys conducted by the Foundation itself. But I'll ask, since I was not directly involved. Bastique demandez 21:07, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- That would be awesome, thank you. If the account cannot be accessed by non-WMF staff, would it be possible to have a WMF staffer input the questions into SM on our behalf? We're hoping for widespread responses, so ease of tabulation is relatively key. Failing that, is it possible to either create a secondary login for the account and/or for me to identify to WMF and gain access in that way? → ROUX ₪ 21:12, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
Question
In regards to Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Bishonen 4, KillerChihuahua has alleged that Majorly has called you disruptive. Do you feel this is true? Majorly's argument seems to be that the "cupcake" response to an RfC dealing with admin abuse, including allegations of aiding sock puppets in undermining our processes, 3RR, and other problems, would be disruptive. Ottava Rima (talk) 14:36, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- Ignore this. Majorly and I have resolved this amicably, and I anticipate no further developments with this specific issue. KillerChihuahua?!?Advice 15:43, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
Deleted images
Hello, I recently uploaded an image and it was automatically categorized for speedy deletion. I don't understand why because I used the proper licensing. I contacted the company directly via email ticket #2009100210033461 and they agreed to release the image, and other, under CC-by-SA 3.0. Skier Dude (talk) deleted my page and he recommended me to contact an admin to verify the email and to have the image restored. You can reply to this image on my talk page Elmatamoskas (talk)
