When making a long-distance call within Taiwan, a long-distance prefix "0" is required. The following table of area codes includes this "0" prefix.

Calling within same area code does not need the 0 or the area code.

The "0" is omitted when calling from outside Taiwan.

In Taiwan, numbers of the mobile phones always begin with 09 followed by 8 digits. The 0 is omitted when calling from outside Taiwan.
