1605 is a Slovenian record label founded in 2007 by DJ Umek. 1605 builds on the same traditions, founded by labels like Recycled Loops, Consumer Recreation, that established Slovenian techno as a leading force in modern techno, providing a place for experimentation and the creation of new music territories. The ultimate goal of 1605 is to establish electronic dance music as a unique cultural expression artistically qual to the ones that build on choir, band, or orchestral performances.[1]
