1940 Governor General's Awards

The 1940 Governor General's Awards for Literary Merit were the fifth such awards. The awards in this period had no monetary prize and were just an honour for the authors.

- Poetry or Drama: E. J. Pratt, Brébeuf and His Brethren
- Non-Fiction: J. F. C. Wright, Slava Bohu
