The following are the first round picks in the 1984 Major League Baseball draft.[1]

- Future Canadian Football League quarterback Damon Allen, was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the seventh round, 182nd overall.[3]
- Four-time NL Cy Young Award winner Greg Maddux, ten-time All-Star Tom Glavine, and two-time World Series champion Al Leiter were all drafted in the second round. [4]
- Former Seattle Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu was the last pick, drafted 839th overall by the Yankees. He did not sign but was drafted by the Reds in 1985.
