Drivers Championship[edit]

Points towards the 1987 World Sports-Prototype Championship for Drivers were awarded to the top 10 finishers in the order of 20-15-12-10-8-6-4-3-2-1. Additionally, two bonus points were awarded to drivers of Group C2 cars finishing in the top ten outright positions.[2] However the following exceptions applied:

  • Drivers failing to complete a specified percentage of the laps in a race were not awarded points.
  • Drivers of cars which did not complete 90% of the number of laps completed by the winning car were not awarded points.

Only the best seven round results could be retained towards a driver's total.[3]

The table below lists the top 36 placegetters.
