The 1998-99 Miami Heat season is the 11th season of the Miami Heat in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

During the shortened NBA season, Miami finished with a 33-17 win-loss record, which earned them the Number 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. Alonzo Mourning was named Defensive Player of the Year. But, despite the great year, the New York Knicks, the Number 8 seed, defeated the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference First round, with Allan Houston of New York hit a buzzer beater basket in the winner-take all Game 5, which prevailed the Knicks over Miami, 77-76.
