The 1999-2000 Charlotte Hornets season was Charlotte's 12th season in the National Basketball Association.[1] The Hornets finished the season with a 49–33 record, and qualified for their fifth playoff appearance. They faced the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round, but were eliminated three games to one. The Hornets finished eleventh the NBA in attendance for the season. On January 12, 2000, Guard Bobby Phills was killed in an automobile accident; the Hornets retired his #13 on February 9 during a game against the Cavaliers.
