The 2011–12 FAI U19 League (full name: 2011-12 Dr Tony O'Neill FAI National Under-19 League) took place between 28 August 2011 and 29 April 2012.[1][2] On 5 December 2012, Airtricity extended their League of Ireland sponsorship to the Under-19 league, so it was known as the Airtricity Under-19 League for sponsorship reasons.
In addition to the league, a cup competition was also played between the member clubs. This cup competition (full name: 2012 Enda McGuill Memorial Cup) was called the 2012 Airtricity U-19 National Cup for sponsorship reasons.
Changes before the season [edit]
The age limit for players playing in the Underage League was reduced, changing this from an U20 league to an U19 league.
An Elite Division of twelve teams was created, with a regionalised second tier of thirteen teams.
Sporting Fingal U20 withdrew, following the demise of the team.
Cobh Ramblers U19 and Fanad United U19 joined the league.
