The 2012 Georgian Protests were a series of protests[citation needed] that erupted in the country of Georgia. Tens of thousands of people protested the rule of President Mikheil Saakashvili and in favour of opposition leader Bidzina Ivanishvili.[1][2][3] The protests were seen as a "test of public support for the opposition ahead of a parliamentary election in October."[4]
