Playoffs[edit]

The Pittsburgh Penguins entered the playoffs as the Metropolitan Division's first seed. They defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round 4-2. After taking a 3-1 series lead following Game 4 they went on to lose the final 3 games as the New York Rangers defeated the Penguins in a 2-1 Game 7 decision.
