2701 Cherson (1978 RT) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on September 1, 1978 by Chernykh, N. at Nauchnyj. It is named after Kherson, a city in southern Ukraine, the administrative center of the Kherson Oblast[1] (not to be confused with Chersonesos Taurica).
