3244 Petronius is an asteroid found in the main belt, a member of the Flora family of asteroids. It was discovered by Cornelis Johannes van Houten, Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels in 1960. It is named after Petronius Arbiter, the ancient Roman satirist and author of the Satyricon.[citation needed]
