Area code 336 is a NANPA area code which covers northwest North Carolina, mainly the Piedmont Triad region and the northern Foothills and northern Mountain regions. It was created out of area code 910 in 1997.

Area code 336 is expected to be exhausted by 2014, by which time a split or overlay may be necessary. There is currently no approved relief plan and/or relief area code.[1]
