The menu consists of a combination of English and French cuisine, with a large number of seafood dishes.
The restaurant was opened by Ramon and Karen Farthing in 1996. Ramon Farthing had previously worked as a chef in the Michelin-starred restaurant at Calcot Manor in Tetbury. In March 2003, they expanded the building's function to include accommodation in four rooms.
In 2010, the Good Hotel Guide named it their "Restaurant with Rooms of the Year".
