7940 Erichmeyer (1991 EO1) is a main-belt asteroid discovered on March 13, 1991 at the Oak Ridge Observatory.

On June 10, 1998, the asteroid was named in honor of Erich Meyer, an Austrian amateur astronomer, on the occasion of his 20th anniversary as astrometricist.[1]
