999-9999 (Thai: ต่อ - ติด - ตาย ) is a 2002 Thai horror film directed by Peter Manus and starring Hugo Chakrabongse) and Sririta Jensen. The story, about the deadly consequences of receiving a telephone call from the number 999-9999, is similar in premise to Final Destination or 976-EVIL.
Sun (Hugo Chakrabongse) is a student in an international school in Phuket. Despite not being academically excellent, he considers himself as "his own man" and doesn't actually believe in love, and is the head of a (clique), consists of the attractive but selfish Meena (Paula Taylor), the geeky Chi (Thepparit Raiwin), smart but timid Wawa (Norajan Sangigern) and fun-loving Rajit (Titinun Keatanakon). The overweight Moo Priew (Ramit Romon) aspires to join Sun's clique, but got rejected every single time.
After doing their usual pranks (involving broadcasting faux news on the school and making fun at a lecture), the crew noticed a new transfer student nicknamed Rainbow (Sririta Jensen), who is beautiful and mysterious. Moreover, Rainbow is also transferred from a high school in Chiang Mai, the place which an unusual case involving a student stabbed on the school's flagpole occurs.
The crew asked Rainbow whether if she knows the cause of the case, and Rainbow told the clique (including Moo Priew) that it involves a demon call from the phone number 999-9999; if one calls it after midnight and say a wish, his wish shall be granted later, but as a consequence the death will come to the caller. Of course none of the crew members believe it; Rajit even call it after midnight in front of the crew, and wishes for a Ferrari. He wakes up the next morning receiving exactly what he wishes by luck.
After granted by his wish, however, Rajit soon dies from a combination of scorpion attacks and malfunctioning car-wash machine, which left him with his throat slashed by a spinning blade. The rest of the crew still don't believe in Rainbow's story, and even make wishes themselves, prioritizing only the first part of the deal. Meena wishes to be a Channel V Thailand VJ, only to be killed by a hanging noose (after a series of occurrences in a bathroom) in a party afterwards.
Soon after Meena's death, Sun, who initially wasn't as skeptical as the rest of his crew, begins to investigate about the deadly call and spends more time with Rainbow. While doing this, however, the other members of his crew and Moo Priew had already made their wishes; Chi wishes not to be a geek anymore, and was burnt by a fire; Moo Priew wants to lose weight, only to die by falling off of a window with his organs pulled outside (thus making him thinner); and Wawa wishes to be an astronaut student, and later has sharp gears splitting her head into two.
Sun, the only one who's still alive, cannot risk of losing Rainbow as well, intends to call the number, wishing something he himself thought couldn't be granted: love. Sun and Rainbow then kiss, making the former realize that his wish might have been granted as Rainbow's affection towards him. Sun proceeds to lock Rainbow on the tower his crew usually hangs out, to avoid the possibility of her being killed with him.
When watching Rainbow via cameras, Sun realizes that Rainbow is the one causing the deaths of his friends by introducing them to the number, making Rainbow a devil's apprentice. When he returns to the tower, Rainbow vanishes, and the number calls Sun and told him he's going to die. A heavy box falls from top of the tower, but Sun manages to avoid it, only to fall on a pipe, piercing through his chest and killing him. A flashback then occurs, which was set on Rainbow's former school, and told the viewers how Rainbow introduces the girls there about the number, hence causing the deaths there later on, including the girl who's stabbed in a flagpole.
