A.Y. McDonald Manufacturing Company
The A.Y. McDonald Manufacturing Company is a corporation headquartered in Dubuque, Iowa. A.Y. McDonald Mfg. Co. is a leading manufacturer of Waterworks Brass, Plumbing Valves, Pumps and Water Systems and High Pressure Gas Valves and Meter Bars.
A.Y. McDonald traces its history back to 1856, when Scottish immigrant Andrew Young McDonald founded the company. His family has continued to be involved in the company over the years.
The company was originally located in downtown Dubuque. In 1983, the company moved to a new facility in a new industrial park on Dubuque's west end. In 1996 the plant's foundry was expanded so that production of brass castings could be increased. The company also maintains facilities in Albia, Iowa, Elizabethton, Tennessee, and Sparks, Nevada.
In 2006 the company made the news when it was revealed that Tonight Show host Jay Leno would be coming to Dubuque to exclusively entertain the company's employees as a part of the company's 150th anniversary celebrations.
