[edit] History
The Regiment origins from the Gotland Artillery Conscripts (Gotlands nationalbevärings artilleribeväring),which was organized in 1811 as a result of a Russian occupation (1808–1809). The Unit was later reorganized into Gotland Conscripts Artillery Corps (Gotlands nationalbevärings artillerikår) in 1861 and the designation No. 4. In 1887 it changed name to Gotland Artillery Corps, A 4.
Gotland Artillery Corps was redesignated A 7 in 1892 because the planned Norrlands artillery regement got the designation A 4. When Gotland Artillery Corps was reorganized in 1975 it became The Gotland Artillery Regiment, A 7, which was the name it would keep until it was Disbanded in 2000. Its traditions was passed on and left in the care of Artilleriregementet.
