[edit] History
The Regiment origins from the Gotland Artillery Conscripts (Gotlands nationalbevärings artilleribeväring),which was organized in 1811 as a result of a Russian occupation (1808-1809). The Unit was later reorganized into Gotland Conscripts Artillery Corps (Gotlands nationalbevärings artillerikår) in 1861 and the designation No. 4. In 1887 it changed name to Gotland Artillery Corps, A 4.
Gotland Artillery Corps was redesignated A 7 in 1892 because the planned Norrlands artillery regement got the designation A 4. When Gotland Artillery Corps was reorganized in 1975 it became The Gotland Artillery Regiment, A 7, which was the name it would keep until it was Disbanded in 2000. Its traditions was passed on and left in the care of Artilleriregementet.
