Asda Mobile is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in the UK, operated by Asda, using the EE network. Asda mobile previously used the Vodafone network before December 2013. Asda Mobile is available in over 360 stores across the UK and online through purchasing either a SIM Card (Standard, Micro or Nano SIM) or through an Asda Mobile handset.

Asda Mobile operates a single tariff which can have one of five bundles added onto it.[1]

Standard Tariff
This table outlines the standard cost paid by any Asda Mobile customer unless a bundle option is added. (Note prices are based through the EE Network - October 2013)[2]

Use Cost
Calls (to any UK mobile, landline or Asda voicemail service) 8p/min
Text Messaging (SMS) 4p/text
Picture Message (MMS) 25p/text
Internet Use (GPRS) 5p/MB
International Calls or Text Messages (SMS) 24p/min or 8p/text

Bundles are an option Asda Mobile customers can choose to add to make savings based on the standard costs.(Note prices are based through the EE Network - October 2013).[3]

  • £5, 100 mins, 2000 texts, 100mb data
  • £5, 500mb data
  • £5, Blackberry Service, 500 mb
  • £10, 250 mins, 2000 texts, 250mb data
  • £15, 500 mins, 2000 texts, 500mb data
  • £20, 1000 mins, 2000 texts, 1gb data

All of the bundles only last for 30 days.

There are many phones available from Asda, either in-store, or from their online service Asda Direct. Asda sell both unlocked and locked phones: any phone sold on the Asda Mobile network is an unlocked, customisation-free phone that is just supplied with an Asda Mobile SIM alongside it; the locked phones are locked to one of the other major UK networks and sold with their SIM and potential phone customisations. As a result of the lack of a lock-in the mobiles sold on Asda Mobile's network tend to be more expensive than locked prepaid mobiles.[4]

Asda Mobile currently operates using the EE network (previously operated on the Vodafone network), a merger of the Orange and T-mobile Networks. It only serves the UK.

Asda Mobile has been awarded the Which award for best mobile network for the third year running, 2010, 2011 and 2012. Results based on coverage, pricing and customer service.
