A Hot Pneumonic is a Midwest indie rock band formed in 2003. Their debut self-titled album was released in Madison, Wisconsin and Milwaukee, Wisconsin independently in December of 2003. The band is led by Nick Votto on vocals, guitar, and keyboards and Anna Worthington on drums and background vocals, and has included brother Michael Votto on background vocals and synth, and Bobby Worthington on guitar.
The band's sound has progressed over their several self-produced albums, but has deep roots in modern folk and indie rock. Many of A Hot Pneumonic's songs include acoustic guitar with barely any other instruments. Most were recorded at Nick Votto's Sun Setter Studios in Brookfield, Wisconsin, except apartment songs... which was recorded in Votto's apartment in Shorewood, Wisconsin, and the spattering of recordings Nick did while living in Phoenix, AZ.
A Hot Pneumonic formed when Nick Votto's first band Lowlight called it quits after three years, and Votto met guitarist Bobby Worthington, who left the band in late 2004. Members of the band have come and gone but Votto remains the constant force. The moniker has mostly been used as a tool for Votto's own solo efforts. A Hot Pneumonic's frontman has recently relocated to Chicago, where he is currently engineering and producing other artists. Nick has also been working on a soundtrack to accompany brother Mike Votto's first novel.

[edit] Trivia
- A Hot Pneumonic's name is an anagram of "Cum on the Piano", a lyric from a now lost Lowlight song.
- A Hot Pneumonic released a free EP in the summer of 2004 to local AM and FM radio stations. The EP included covers of Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller's "To Be Someone", "Cigarettes in Hell" by Oasis, and a seven-minute indie-reworking of Hilary Duff's hit "Why Not?", which got occasional airplay in July of 2004.
