Abaareey, also known as Agaaran, is a town in the north-central Mudug region of Somalia.
[edit] History
The Agaaran settlement was established in the 1990s. Due to its strategical location at the juncture of the main commercial routes of northern to southern Somalia as well as the Ogaden region, the town is quickly growing in size.
[edit] Overview
Agaaran is situated 35 km north of Galkacyo, the regional capital. It has a population of about 10,560 inhabitants.
Besides demographics, basic community needs such as education, health and telecommunications are also rapidly expanding. The town's residents mostly belong to the Reer Bicidyahan sub-clan of Majeerteen.
