Abutilon × hybridum cultivar 'Patrick Synge'

Abutilon × hybridum (Chinese Lantern, parlour maple) is a group of hybrid shrubs in the genus Abutilon, derived from Abutilon darwinii and Abutilon striatum, and to a lesser degree from Abutilon megapotamicum and additional species of section Pluriovulata.

The hybrids are semi-tropical, frost-tender shrubs reaching 8 to 10 ft (2.4 to 3.0 m) in warmer climates in the ground, or 2 to 4 ft (0.61 to 1.2 m) in colder areas in one season of growth. Leaves are similar to maples, lobed, light green or variegated. The flowers come in many shades of red, pink, yellow, white and pastels, starting out as lantern shaped buds and opening to bell and cup shaped flowers with five petals and prominent stamens. They are commonly grown as a house plant, or in window boxes and pots.[1]
