[edit] Founding

Adblade was launched as an online advertising network[6] in January 2008,[1] by Ash Nashed.[4] The company is based in Somerville, New Jersey[7] with an additional office in Manhattan of New York City.[6]

In November 2009, the company announced it had surpassed 150 million monthly unique users in the United States.[8] According to comScore in April 2011, the company reaches more than 121 million unique users per month who view 1 billion monthly page views through 400 properties.[3] According to Adsafe in June 2011, Adblade served nearly 1.5 billion "impressions" from April 2011 through May 2011, with about 80% of those impressions categorized as low risk. That favorably placed their Media Ranking Index at 149,[1] compared to the industry average of 110.[2] Adblade is an OMMA top 25 ad network.[1]

[edit] Service overview

Adblade has advertising arrangements chiefly with highly-trafficked content providers.[8] It does not go through other advertising networks, as is often the norm with competitors.[1] Websites in its network have included MSNBC,[4] Fox News, USA Today, The Washington Times, Newsweek and U.S. News.[5] Adblade has also worked with MediaPost, specifically developing them a custom Facebook widget called "The MediaPost Feed."[9]

Adblade by default serves only the United States, though there are options for targeting Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Advertisements can be created and uploaded by clients, and may be "geo-targeted" or targeted towards particular interests..[4] The system allows for monetizing websites and blogs, though websites must meet certain requirements.[5]

Adblade offers several features for advertisers. Adblade advertisements are offered in AdCast, the copyrighted "Newsbullet" ad unit,[6] or Standard IAB units.[7] AdCast, Adblade's patented technology,[10] is a non-scrollable,[clarification needed][4] yet time-controlled way to show advertisements that focuses on video or rich media ads.[5]
