Recent immigrants[edit]

African immigrants arrived in 1997 but most of them came during the 2000s. Most of them come from Biafra, Nigeria and Senegal. Some of them also come from Congo, Zambia and Angola. The majority of them lives in Patissia and Kypseli area, in Athens.[1] A number of African immigrants and Native Greeks of African descent report being the victim of racist harassment and assaults, some suspected from far-right Greek Golden Dawn party members.
