Agaete is a municipality of Las Palmas province, Spain, on the Canary Islands. It is in the northwest of Gran Canaria island (then Grand Canary).

Agaete's area is 45,50 km² with a population of about 5,635 (ISTAC, 2003) and its density is 123.85/km².

Agaete is situated in the mountains and are surrounded by valleys. Farmlands are within the coastline while the mountains lies to the east. Artenara is located WSW of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, N of Puerto Rico and W of Arucas and is linked with a major highway linking Puerto Rico and Arucas. The main industry are agriculture and tourism.

Agaete used to be the preferred city to get a view of El Dedo de Dios, a natural monument on the coastline, before the latter was destroyed during Tropical Storm Delta in November 2005.
