Akkaraipattu (Tamil: அக்கரைப்பற்று, Pronounced Akkarai-Patru) is a town in the Ampara District of Sri Lanka, and is located along the Eastern coast of the Island. Akkaraipattu consists of over 35,000 people who settled in this area many centuries ago. 99% of the total population is Arab traders who follow the Sunni Sect of Islam.
Education and religious are considered as an utmost important factor among the People and educating the children is considered as the primary job of each and every parent. Due to this reason, there are a big number of highly educated people who perform well in their respective fields with Islam.

[edit] AMC College (AMCC)
Akkaraipattu Muslim Central College (AMCC), is the premier education provider for Muslim Community was founded in 1948 in the Green City of South Eastern Sri Lanka, Akkaraipattu. It became the second Muslim National School in Sri Lanka and first National School in the Eastern Province 1992. With the mission to be a leading school in Sri Lanka, AMCC has been producing more active citizens. With the student population of more than 2000 Male and Female students and 160 staffs AMMC has been playing a main role in the development of Akkaraipattu and Sri Lanka in whole.
