[edit] History

The club was founded on 20 January 1949 under the name Halab Al-Ahli Club, by the merge of three small football teams in Aleppo: Al-Janah (The Wing), Osud Al-Shahba (Lions of Shahba) and Al-Nejmeh (The Star), before getting recognized officially by the ministry of internal affairs on 25 January 1953. In 1972, the name of the club was changed into Al-Ittihad by the decision of the Syrian government.[1]
