Al-Zahiriyah Madrasa (Arabic: المدرسة الظاهرية) is a madrasah complex located between the Kamiliyah and the Firdaws madrasas, about 500 metres (1,600 ft) south of Bab al-Maqam, in Aleppo, Syria. It was built by Az-Zahir Ghazi in 1217. The building consists of an entrance portal which opens onto an oblong courtyard with two tripartite arcades on the north and south ends, a deep iwan on the east end, and a group of small rooms on the west end. The mosque is a tripartite structure covered with domes with a malqaf (wind-catcher) inserted in the southeastern dome over the mausoleum. The study hall is located on the southern half of the western bay, while the living quarters are in the northwestern area.[1]
