Al-Hasakah (Syriac: ܚܣܟܗ, Arabic: الحسكة Al Ḥasaka, Kurdish: Hesîçe) is the capital city of the Al-Hasakah Governorate and is located in the far north-east corner of Syria. With a population of 188,160 residents, Al-Hasakah is among the 10 largest cities in Syria and the largest in the governorate, with the majority being Christian ethnic Assyrians/Syriacs, the Muslims in the city are mainly Kurds and Arabs.
