Al-Hasakah (Arabic: الحسكة,Syriac: ܓܨܪܛܐ Gozarto Kurdish: Hesîçe, Turkish: Hasiçi) is the capital city of the Al Hasakah Governorate and is located in the far north-east corner of Syria. Al Hasakah has the second highest population in the governorate, 81,809, with the majority being Assyrians, Syriacs, Kurds and Arabs. The alkhabor river runs through Al Hasakah and the rest of the governorate.
