Albert Schweitzer Gold Medal for Humanitarianism

The Albert Schweitzer Gold Medal for Humanitarianism was established in 1989. It is given to individuals who have demonstrated exemplary service to humanity. Recipients include:
- Dwayne O. Andreas, Chairman of the Board, Archer Daniels Midland
- Mary Woodard Lasker, President, Lasker Foundation
- George H.W. Bush, 41st President of the United States
- Ted Turner, Vice Chairman, AOL Time Warner Inc.
- Andrzej Lepper, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland
Often confused with this award is the Albert Schweitzer Prize for Humanitarianism, established in 1986.
