Alexander Semyonovich Shishkov (Russian: Александр Семёнович Шишков) (March 9(20), 1754 - April 9(21), 1841, Petersburg) was a Russian statesman, writer, and admiral.
Shishkov was the President of the Russian Academy and People's Education Minister.[1] "He was one of the first fighters against the foreign words' domination of the Russian language."[1] "Shishkov published The Trilingual Naval Dictionary, Russia's first dictionary of Russian and foreign naval terms."[1]
