Alexander Wood (physician)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alexander Wood FRSE, FRCPE (1817–1884), was a Scottish physician from Edinburgh who in 1853 invented the first hypodermic needle that used a true syringe and hollow needle.[1]
Ironically, Wood's wife was the first known intravenous morphine addict. She eventually died from an overdose delivered by her husband's invention.[2]
