Alfonso Rodriguez was a Spanish Mariner and Merchant.[1]

Biography[edit]

Born in Galicia, Spain, son of Juan de Trovo Rodriguez and Inés de Vasanta.[2] he arrived port of Buenos Aires in the mid 17th century from Rio de Janeiro, was devoted to marine commercial and freight activities. In 1629 the Captain Rodriguez married, with Ana de la Trinidad Martínez,[3] daughter of Juan Gil Freytas descendant of Portuguese Francisco Freytas,[4] and María Martínez, her daughter of Francisco Martinez and Juana Luis de Luque inhabitants of Buenos Aires.[5]

The wife of Alfonso Rodriguez, doña Ana Gil Freytas Martinez is the direct maternal ancestor of Mayor Miguel Jerónimo Esparza, and the brothers José, Manuel, Joaquín Canaverys.[6]
