Algoso (also, Weed Patch)[2] is an unincorporated community in Kern County, California.[1] It is located on the railroad 4.5 miles (7.2 km) east-southeast of downtown Bakersfield,[2] at an elevation of 430 feet (131 m).[1]
The place was called Weed Patch until arrival of the railroad which changed the name to Algoso (Spanish for "weedy") to avoid confusion with Weedpatch.[2]
