[edit] Biography

He was born in Thessaloniki, Ottoman Empire and worked as a customs official. He died in 1888 when his son was 7 years old. Although he is thought by some to be of Albanian origin,[1] other sources claim that he was of Turkish descent,[2][3] or that this can only be a matter for surmise.[4]
