Alice in Blunderland is the second book in the trilogy of prequels of the Alice series written by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. It was published on September 1, 2003. The story revolves around Alice when she is in fourth grade and feels as if she cannot escape her embarrassment.

Alice is entering fourth grade. She has a male teacher for the first time, starts to become friends with "The Terrible Triplets", and then forms "The Secret Six". However, Alice can't seem to escape from her embarrassment. Her neighbor and classmate, Donald Sheavers, sees her in her underpants; she gets a vitamin pill stuck up her nose; gets trapped in her own snow cave; and accidentally says "dumb" things in class. Also, no matter how hard she tries, she is not on good terms with her older brother, Lester. Lester constantly lies to Alice, and she believes him. One day, he tells her that his girlfriend, Lisa Shane, gets beaten by her father. Alice, who trusts her brother, then gets told by him that it was a "joke" and it isn't true. In anger, Alice hits Lester with a backpack, and he pushes her. Alice yells at him, and manages to get her sibling extremely mad at her after their father saddles both of them with Mrs. Nolinstock, the "worst housekeeper in the world". Fourth grade can't seem to end soon enough for the young Alice.

- Alice Kathleen McKinley is the main protagonist (and narrator) of the Alice series. She has strawberry blonde hair, and is in fourth grade. Alice lives with her father, Ben, and older brother, Lester, in Silver Spring, Maryland. Her mother, Marie, died when she was four (or five; she can't remember). Alice constantly encounters embarrassing moments, but she keeps on trying to be kindhearted and help everyone. Lester gets really mad at her after they get saddled with Mrs. Nolinstock because of the fight the two siblings get in.
- Lester McKinley is Alice's older brother. He has curly brown hair, and is seventeen years old. He lies to his sister a lot, as he is amused of her trust in him. However, he takes things too far when he states that his girlfriend, Lisa Shane, gets beaten by her father, which is not true.
- Benjamin "Ben" McKinley is Alice's father.
