Amalgamated Regional Militia

The ARM are the armed forces of the United Nations in Larry Niven's Known Space universe. Their jurisdiction is limited to the Earth–Moon system; other human colonies have their own militia. ARM used to be an initialism for the Amalgamation of Regional Militia, though this is not a term in current usage by the time of the Known Space novels.
