Amanda Joy Michalka, (born April 10, 1991) often credited as AJ, is an American actress and singer-songwriter. She used to be a model prior to becoming an actress, and is best known as one-half of the duo 78violet with her sister, Alyson Michalka. She is also known as Courtney Callum in the Disney Channel Original Movie Cow Belles.

Amanda lived and grew up in Seattle, Washington and Southern California with her sister Alyson Michalka. Amanda has been playing the piano since she was four and started playing the guitar in her early teens. She started acting when she was seven years old, mostly in church play productions. She was raised as a Christian and continues to practice the faith.[2][3][4]
In 2006, Amanda dated Joe Jonas of pop boy band the Jonas Brothers, as confirmed by Michalka on her MySpace blog.[5] In 2008, Amanda started dating Bennett, as confirmed by Michalka on her MySpace blog.[6]

AJ was in a number of musical productions at her school in Milwaukee as a young adult. AJ plays a variety of instruments such as acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, and bongos. She was a model for catalogs. In March 2006, she made her Disney Channel debut in the Disney Channel Original Movie Cow Belles, as "Courtney Callum", along with sister Aly, as "Taylor Callum". She and her sister have made 3 music albums together ( Into the Rush, Insomniatic, and Acoustic Hearts of Winter ) .She has also made appearances on shows such as Oliver Beene, Six Feet Under, The Guardian, and General Hospital.[7][8][9][10] She has also appeared with her sister, Aly, in the MTV movie, Super Sweet 16: The Movie.
In 2008, she is featured in the upcoming Peter Jackson film The Lovely Bones, which is set to be released December 11, 2009,[11] while her sister has a lead role in the movie Bandslam, due August 14, 2009. Aside from this, she and her sister, as 78violet, are working on a new album, to be released in the fall of 2009.[12]
