[edit] Career

[edit] Beginnings and work with Peterson and Gregorian

Brightman began her musical career under the pseudonym of Eve, but changed it to Violet, to avoid confusion with the American rapper Eve. In 1999 she began working with the staff of Nemo Studio, Hamburg, Germany; starting by writing material for the Spanish singer, Princessa's I Won't Forget You album. During her time at Nemo, Violet began working on her debut solo album with producer Frank Peterson and contributing to many of his other projects. Violet has written for, toured with and provided vocals for many albums by the Gregorian chant project, Gregorian. She has also toured with and written for her sister Sarah. She also toured with Jade Villalon of the band Sweetbox and is featured on the Sweetbox Live DVD.

[edit] After working with Peterson and Gregorian

In September 2008 Brightman wrote in a blog on her Myspace account that she was currently making an album with new songs, and she hopes to have something released in 2009; she also noted that she would not be appearing on Sarah Brightman's forthcoming tour due to this. In October 2008 Brightman again noted on her Myspace, that due to conflicting views with the management of the forthcoming Gregorian tour, she had pulled out of the Gregorian tour. In late November 2008 Brightman decided to leave the Gregorian project as both a writer and a performer; Brightman also left Peterson's Nemo Studios, citing that she wanted to concentate on her solo project. Brightman is working with Dean James, Glen Scott and Subject 13 on her untitled solo album for Etiquette Recordings. This album will contain songs including "Twisted Angel", "Automatic", "Innocent Rejection" and "It's all in your Head".
