American International University-Bangladesh (Bengali: আমেরিকান ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটি-বাংলাদেশ) (AIUB) is a private research university located at Banani in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established in 1994 by Anwarul Abedin under the Private University Act, 1992.[1] The university is an independent organization with its own Board of Trustees.[2] It offers several degree programs at graduate and undergraduate level from its four faculties. As of 2012, The university has over 10,725 students with over 277 full-time faculty members and 8,608 Alumni.[citation needed]

The University is on Kamal Atatürk Avenue, Banani, Dhaka. It has six campuses with two administrative buildings. Different campuses house different faculties and departments:
- Administration Building is at 23°47′40″N 90°24′06″E / 23.794458°N 90.401586°E.
- Campus 1: Faculty of Business Administration is at 23°47′40″N 90°24′20″E / 23.794467°N 90.405664°E.
- Campus 2: Faculty of Engineering is at 23°47′41″N 90°24′09″E / 23.794686°N 90.402417°E.
- Campus 3: Accounts and Audit Section is at 23°47′41″N 90°24′06″E / 23.794650°N 90.401678°E.
- Campus 4: Faculty of Science and Information Technology and the IT Department is at 23°47′40″N 90°24′22″E / 23.794503°N 90.406175°E.
- Campus 5: Faculty of Business Administration is at 23°47′39″N 90°24′20″E / 23.794278°N 90.405611°E.
- Campus 6: Deans' Office and AQAC is at 23°47′39″N 90°24′20″E / 23.794278°N 90.405611°E.
- Campus 7: Department of Math, Department of Basic Sciences and Department of Architecture is at 23°47′39″N 90°24′20″E / 23.794278°N 90.405611°E.
Construction of the permanent campus 23°49′18″N 90°25′40″E / 23.821748°N 90.427785°E is going on at Kuratoli Road, Kuril on a 5.38 acres (2.18 ha) of land. The total building area is 950,000 square feet (88,000 m2). It was designed by architects Soontorn Boonyatikarn and Associates of Thailand and architect Gazi Tariq Mahmood of Bangladesh. The tentative date of completion is mid of 2014.[3]

The academic programs gradually develop around the Faculty of Science and Information Technology, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Business Administration, and Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences.[4]
AIUB is the first university of the nation to offer the Agribusiness MBA (AgMBA) program.[5] The Master of Engineering in Telecommunications (M.Eng. in Telecommunications) is a joint degree program by the Faculty of Science & IT and Faculty of Engineering. AIUB has been offering the program since spring 2008–09.[6]

AIUB publishes two academic journals: AIUB Journal of Science and Engineering (AJSE) (ISSN 1608-3679) and AIUB Journal of Business and Economics (AJBE), (ISSN 1683-8742). Since the first publications in 2002 by the Office of Research & Publications (ORP) of AIUB, three issues per year are published.
AIUB has launched an online databank, which contains historical financial data of nation's business, stock market, economic data and HR data.

There are about 32,000 books, 96 online journals and others articles, periodicals, CDs, video covering more than 80 academic areas in the AIUB library.
The auditorium serves as an activity room for extracurricular activities. It can hold 210 people. The auditorium is used for seminars, meetings, special classes, business presentation and the like. It is equipped with state-of-art facilities.
AIUB provides separate male and female housing facilities for international students and out-of-Dhaka students.
AIUB also provides separate male and female prayer room for muslim students.

AIUB is one of the only five universities from Bangladesh who have participated in the maximum level of ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM ICPC) commonly known as ACM ICPC World Final.[7] In 2001, AIUB qualified for the world final through Wild Card by securing second place in ACM ICPC Kanpur Site regional.[8] Office of Student Affairs (OSA) looks after the extra curricular activities of the student community through student organizations like:
