Antoon Verschoot, MBE, Order of the Crown (Belgium) (Ypres, 19 June 1925) is a firefighter and a bugler.

Background[edit]

Verschoot joined the Ypres fire brigade in 1950. In 1954 he commenced as a bugler for the Last Post Association in Ypres. Since then he has been playing the Last Post at the Menin Gate. He is well-known abroad and above all in Great-Britain. He is the oldest bugler of longest standing from the Association and received numerous medals. Since 1954 he played the Last Post more than 14.000 times.
