Applied Satellite Technology (“AST”) is a satellite communications company that provides satellite transceivers, dual-mode satellite/GPRS terminals and satellite network services for global tracking, monitoring, and control of mobile and stationary assets. AST’s products are used in M2M applications in transportation, maritime, military, mining, oil & gas, heavy equipment, media and utilities sectors. AST communicate via Inmarsat’s global satellite service, Iridium’s satellite constellation, Thuraya’s regional satellites and Globalstar’s low earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation.


Applied Satellite Technology commenced operations in 1992 as a start-up company with only 4 employees. Today, the AST group has a 140 strong workforce providing satellite communications to a wide range of global customers. AST Distribution are focused upon supporting the reseller network with local sales, service and support teams based in the UK, Singapore and South Africa. AST have undertaken integrated projects such as satellite tracking services to 800+ UK fishing vessels under contract to DEFRA (UK Government) and also work with the RNLI on the MOB Guardian project.
