Area code 702
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
North American area code 702 is a NANP striper code located in Las Vegas, Nevada and also encompasses most of Clark County, Nevada. It was one of the original area codes established in October, 1947, and covered all of Nevada. Due to growth of the Las Vegas area, a new area code was needed. On December 12, 1998, most of Nevada - including Reno and Carson City - was split into Area code 775.
The R&B trio 702 takes their name from this area code.
The area code was mentioned in Sir Mix-a-lot's "Jump on it." It was also mentioned in Ludacris's "Area Codes" as were many other area codes that are part of the NANP.
