Map of California area codes in blue (and border states) with 707 in red
North American area code 707 is a Californian telephone area code which covers Napa, Sebastopol, Vallejo, Benicia, Fairfield, Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Fort Bragg, Crescent City, Eureka, Clearlake, Vacaville, Ukiah, and northwestern California. It was split from area code 415 on March 1, 1959. It has retained virtually the same coverage area since then (except for a minor boundary realignment), making it by far the longest-lasting area code in California.
When area code 916 split into area code 530 on November 1, 1997, the Dixon area moved from area code 916 to 707 and also from the Sacramento LATA into the San Francisco LATA.
