Area code 876

Area code 876 is the local telephone area code of Jamaica. The 876 area code was created during a split from the original 809 area code which was done on or around the date May, 1997.
When in Jamaica, use the seven digits alone. When calling to Jamaica from anywhere in the NANP area simply dial 1(876) + seven digit phone number.
In recent years US residents have been scammed by calls announcing lottery winnings or UPS pickup with instructions to call back to an 876 area code, which looks like a toll-free number but in fact is subject to international long distance rates.
