Arendal Airport, Gullknapp (Norwegian: Arendal flyplass, Gullknapp; ICAO: ENGK) is a general aviation airport in Arendal, Aust-Agder, Norway.[1][2] It is Southern Norway's second-largest airport, after Kristiansand Airport, Kjevik. The airport is about 10 km from the center of Arendal. It is mostly used by small airplanes, for general aviation purposes. However, in 2008 there was a jet at the airport.


In the 1970s it was in Aust - Agder County Council directed the effort to find the most favorable location for an airport in the Arendal Region . Løddesøl in the Old Øyestad municipality, now part of the municipality of Arendal, were selected and developed sites were purchased . There stopped the plans up . In 1984, it purchased land for the airport Gullknapp . A runway of 500 meters could soon be used. Blakstad high school has used Gullknapp that practice area and has done a lot of work, both on the runway and the road to the airport. From 2003 Arendal been stronger in the airport company, but from 2007 Arendal Fossekompani acquired majority shareholding .

20th June 2008 landed the first Jet aircraft on Gullknapp airport . The plane belonged to the company FlyDirect that would focus on taxi flying from Arendal. Today there is still work going on at the airport, and according to Agderposten development is a step towards charter traffic on the site.
