Aria Air (Persian: هواپیمایی آریا) is an airline based in Tehran, Iran. It operates international and domestic passenger services. Its main base is Mehrabad International Airport.[1]

The airline was established and started operations in 2000 as Aria Air Tour.[1] Aria Air was founded by Captain Asghar Abdollahpour and Captain Mahdi Dadpei.

The Aria Air fleet consists of the following aircraft (as of July 2009):
- 2 Fokker 50 (EP-EAF, EP-EAH)[2] YOM 1991
- 2 Ilyushin Il-62M†[1]
- 3 Tupolev Tu-154M (RA-85720, RA-85761, RA-85786)[2]
† a third was written off on 24 July 2009.[3]
[edit] Incidents
- On 24 July 2009, Aria Air Flight 1525 an Ilyushin IL-62M, registered UP-I6208, crashed on landing at Mashhad International Airport, Mashhad, Iran, killing 17 people including the CEO Mehdi Dadpei. A further 136 escaped but 19 of them were injured.[2][3][5]
