[edit] History

The Wranglers began play as the Arkansas Twisters and was a planned charter member of Arena Football 1 (and before that a charter member of af2), and played their home games at Verizon Arena.

On November 17, the team left Arena Football 1 to join the Indoor Football League. Due to a complicated legal process, the team had to change its name. On February 4, 2010, they announced that Arkansas Diamonds won the fan vote.

The Diamonds later left Arkansas and moved to Allen, Texas to play as the Allen Wranglers, starting with the 2011 IFL season.[2] After a name-the-team contest, the team announced on September 29 it would be called the Allen Wranglers.[1]

On November 5, 2010, the team announced that Chris MacKeown would be the Wranglers' head coach for the 2011 season. MacKeown was most recently the offensive coordinator for the Arena Football League's Colorado Crush after a stint as head coach and director of football operations for the Amarillo Dusters of af2.[3]

In December 2011 the Wranglers made an offer to unemployed NFL receiver Terrell Owens for part ownership in the team and up to $500,000 for participation in the 2012 season. Team general manager and former Dallas Cowboys receiver Drew Pearson made the offer, which is apparently within league rules. [4] [5] On January 18, 2012, Owens announced via Twitter that he had accepted the Wranglers' offer and joined their ownership group, with an official press conference to take place the following week.
